Inkspread collects no personal data — no name, email or phone number — and what you read never leaves your device. It does send anonymous usage statistics and crash reports to Google Firebase so we can fix problems.
Inkspread ("the app") is an Android comic reader made by BYJW.Studio ("we"). All the app does is open comic files you already have. It neither provides nor downloads any content.
This policy explains what information the app handles and where that information stays.
The app collects nothing that identifies you personally — no name, email, phone number or address. There is no account and no sign-in.
It does gather anonymous information needed to fix problems. Section 7 covers this in full.
What you are reading is never sent. File names, folder paths, your library and your reading position all stay on the device.
The app reads only the folders and files you pick yourself in Android's own file picker (the Storage Access Framework). It cannot see anything you have not picked.
The following is stored on your device only. We have no access to it.
Uninstalling the app removes all of it. Since nothing is backed up, you will need to pick your folder again on a new device.
Reading comics needs no network at all. There is nothing to download or browse, and your files are never uploaded anywhere.
The network is used only to send usage statistics and crash reports (section 7). No advertising SDK is included.
Android Auto Backup is switched off as well. The operating system does not copy the app's data into your Google account backup or carry it over in a device transfer. What you read leaves your device by no route at all.
We do not sell your information to third parties, and we do not pass it on for advertising or marketing.
The app integrates one third-party service, Google Firebase, used solely to find and fix problems in the app. Section 7 covers this in full.
To find and fix problems we use two Google Firebase features. We do not use this information for anything other than improving the app.
What that includes:
What is never sent — the file names, folder paths, library contents and reading positions of the comics you open, and the contents of the files themselves. None of that leaves your device.
The advertising ID is not used. That permission has been removed from the app entirely.
Data is encrypted in transit over HTTPS. Google's handling is described at Firebase Privacy and Security.
The app asks you to grant no permissions at all. It does not use location, contacts, camera or storage permissions; file access happens only through the picker described in section 3.
It does declare internet access so it can send the statistics and crash reports in section 7. That permission is granted at install time and is never prompted for.
The statistics and crash records in section 7 do not identify you, which makes them hard to trace back to one person. If you would like them removed, write to us using the contact below and we will look into it.
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. The statistics and crash records in section 7 are anonymous and do not distinguish age.
If this policy changes we will post the updated text and date on this page. If a new feature changes what information the app handles, we will update this document before releasing that feature.
