Summary
Duo Display does not collect personal information. There is no account or sign-in, and screen video travels only between your own Mac and your own iPhone. There are no analytics or advertising SDKs, and no data is sent to any outside server.
1. Overview
Duo Display (the "App") is made by BYJW.Studio (the "Company"). It consists of an iOS app for your iPhone and the Duo Display Mac app for your Mac. Its only job is to let you use your iPhone as an extended display for your Mac.
This policy explains what information the two apps handle and where it goes.
2. Information we collect
Neither app collects names, email addresses, phone numbers, location, or any other personal information. There is no account and no sign-in.
The Company receives no data from the apps. The apps have no feature that sends anything to a Company server.
3. Where your screen video goes
The screen video sent by the Mac app goes directly from your Mac to your iPhone.
- It travels over a local network such as the same Wi-Fi, or over a USB cable. The iPhone finds Macs on the same network using Bonjour
- It does not pass through any outside server on the internet. The Company cannot see this video
- The iPhone only draws what it receives. Neither app saves screen video or screenshots to a file
- Along with the video, the Mac sends the position and shape of the mouse cursor to the iPhone. When connecting, the iPhone sends its screen size and scale to the Mac
This traffic uses a connection that is not encrypted. For that reason we recommend not using the app on networks you do not trust, such as public Wi-Fi. A cable connection does not pass through the network.
4. Information stored on your device
The apps do not store user data on your device. They keep no account, connection history, or settings file. Nothing is left once you quit or delete the apps.
5. Permissions
- iPhone: Local Network — to find and connect to a Mac on the same Wi-Fi
- Mac: Screen Recording — to send your screen to the iPhone. The screen captured with this permission is used only to send it to the iPhone. It is not saved or sent anywhere else
You can turn off either permission in system settings at any time. Without them the apps cannot connect.
6. Third parties
The apps do not sell or hand over user information to third parties. We did not include analytics tools, crash reporting tools, or advertising SDKs. There are no connected outside services.
7. Children
Because the apps collect no personal information, they collect no information from children either.
8. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will post the updated text and date on this page. If a new feature changes what the apps handle, we will update this document before releasing that feature. For example, if touch control arrives in a later update, we will describe here how touch input is handled.
